The benefits of surviving in a TEOTWAWKI world!

Hello my friend and welcome back!  In today’s post we are going to look at the benefits of surviving in a TEOTWAWKI world.   Bad things can sometimes lead to something good, so grab your cup of coffee and have a seat while we visit.

AS Preppers, we spend a lot of time thinking about dealing with the bad things we will possibly face when TEOTWAWKI hits.  That’s actually good because it forces us to work through different scenarios and prepare for them.  Now don’t get me wrong, there are going to be a ton of things that will be too horrible to even imagine when it hits, but, if you think about it, there just might be some good as well.

I know at first that might sound crazy, but I believe it will be true. Depending on the trigger for TEOTWAWKI, some of these things might not apply, but I believe most of them will in most cases.

If we are hit with a CME or EMP, all electronics will basically be wiped out.  This means no video games, no more spending all day texting or talking on the phone. This will force those addicted to it to deal with people face to face and to their new reality in a world void of electrical systems.  Things change when you see a person’s facial expressions along with the tone of their voice.  We may actually find that the game console junkies have actually developed a skill for tactical planning and logical thinking.  Of course, they will probably be going through DT’s for a while, but once the fog lifts they may surprise people with some of their talents they have developed and their eye-hand coordination.

I actually believe that when people begin to accept and survive in the new reality they are living in, they will find that they have talents they never knew they had.  Things like pottery making and wood working for just a couple of examples.  Why you might ask? Because they never had need for those skills before, it was simply too easy to go to the store and buy what they needed.  In the new world, many people will find that if they don’t have it or know how to make it, they will have to simply do without it.  Like they say, necessity is the Mother of all inventions, and I have a feeling that many people will be delighted with their new-found talents.  There is just something satisfying about making something with your own hands and growing you own food that truly makes a person feel free.

In today’s world many couples lead separate lives while still together, and as such, we have seen an increase in domestic violence and divorce.  When you talk to them about it, most say that they just drifted apart over time.  In a TEOTWAWKI world, people will need each other to survive.  With nothing to distract them, and get between them, they will either grow closer over time or kill each other.  I know I have been married to my lovely bride for thirty-five years now and I love her more today than ever.  We have weathered many storms together over the years and have always come through them stronger and in a TEOTWAWKI where people are forced to depend on each other, many will experience the same.

Child rearing is another area where we will see a change for the better.  There will be no more dropping your child off at the daycare or babysitters on your way to work, and no one else is going to want to raise your children.  You will be forced to effectively become a good parent and get to know your children.  Child abuse will no longer be handled by child welfare, but will be dealt with by your neighbors and friends.  However, being forced to actually get to know their children and raise them; many will build a much stronger bond with their children than they do today.  Family’s and neighbors will again become close as they are each forced to rely on the other for survival.

Growing your own crops, working in the fields, and hunting are all things that will quickly become a family affair in a TEOTWAWKI world.  As I said in the beginning, not everything in a world gone mad will be bad and in the end, some of these things may just save humanity.

Well that’s it for today my friend and I hope you have enjoyed today’s post.  Until next time, stay safe, stay strong, and stay prepared!  God bless America!

I like the way you think! 😉
I had many of the same thoughts about TEOTWAWKI. The survivors would generally be the strongest and talented of us, who can solve problems instead of creating them.

I don’t consider myself a prepper, just an avid outdoor enthusiast. Many of the same skills and common sense apply. Awareness, safety ,caution and basic human needs like shelter, food, water and security. I enjoy the articles, my only complaint is their short! 😉
