The 8 most likely Disaster Scenario Countdown: Scenario number eight!
Hello, my friend and welcome back! In today’s post, we are going to kick off what I consider to be the eight most likely Disaster scenarios. Each day, I will have another scenario that could conceivably happen in the near future. I will present the details of the scenario, and then discuss what, if anything, you could do now to prepare for it and what the possible outcome might be. This is a post I have been wanting to do for some time, so grab a cup of coffee my friend and have a seat while we visit.
Scenario number Eight: Invasion by Foreign Forces on American Soil.
No matter how far-fetched you may think this is, it is still a possibility. Think Red Dawn!
Mike laid on his bed listening to the rain pounding on the glass of the window in his room. It was the worst storm in years and was blanketing the entire West coast of the US, including Mikes home in Northern California, with rain and snow.
Sitting up in his bed and looking around the sparsely lit room, he couldn’t help but feel discouraged. No work, no money, and nothing to do, he thought, as he swung his feet off of the bed and onto the cold floor.
Looking at his worn out watch on the nightstand, he could see it was 11:30 pm. Since the new Democratic President took over, jobs and food had become hard to come by. Reaching over to turn on the radio sitting on his nightstand, he couldn’t help but wonder if the new jobs bill had passed? The President had promised he would put everyone to work. Not that he was in a hurry to go back to work, but the money for food and other things would be really nice to have again.
As he listened, the National Alert warning tone blared from the radio. Crap he thought to himself, as he began to turn the dial. They’re always testing that crap, he thought. Each station he turned to had the same annoying tone coming from it. What the heck is going on he wondered, finally stopping at one station with a man just starting to talk. The person reading sounded flustered and upset but kept on speaking.
“The President of the United States has issued a National Emergency Warning and is requesting everyone stay in their homes. Foreign forces crossed into American airspace at approximately 4:00 AM today, entering from Canada, Mexico, and Cuba. These planes are believed to be carrying Chinese and Russian troops, rumored to be working in conjunction with Mexico and Cuba as well as Canada. “The Government has scrambled our fighter jets, but the sheer number of aircraft coming in are believed to be overwhelming them. US military bases in Florida, Texas, and Oregon are now believed to have been overrun and are now in the hands of foreign forces. All citizens are urged to stay inside and keep their doors locked”!
With that, the speaker was replaced with an ear-piercing warble noise and Mike quickly turned it off. Looking around the dimly lit room, Mike wondered “what the hell do I do now?”
As Americans, we tend to think of ourselves as safe, here at home, forgetting that history has shown that no country is immune to foreign attack. Most Americans live with the false security that it can’t happen here. Fortunately, however, we as Preppers prepare ourselves for this type of scenario. OK, let’s start out by looking at what you should have in your Preps to deal with a situation like this.
First, there are the standard items. Food, water, medical supplies and so forth. Hopefully, you have several firearms and a good deal of ammunition in your preps as well. Of course, none of these will do you any good at all if you don’t know how to use them.
What do you do first? The first thing you will want to do is to unpack your Bugout bag and refresh yourself with everything in it and where it’s at inside the bag. Add additional water and food, repack the bag. Having it ready to go at any moment is critical. Next, you’re going to want to take out a map of your local area and re-familiarize yourself with possible escape routes, just in case you need them. If you are a part of a survival group, then you will want to contact the other members as soon as possible. If you have a group bug out location, then you will want to get there as quickly as possible and before martial law is declared if it hasn’t already been.
If you’re bugging in, you’re going to want to immediately fill your bathtub with water and your sinks and any large containers or pots as well. Check on family members and the elderly and be sure everyone is aware of the situation. You can expect the power to go out, so get out your flashlights, candles, and matches before it gets dark.
If martial law has not yet been declared, then you may want to fill up the gas tank on your car and any empty gas cans you may have. If you do leave your home, pay special attention to traffic movements and any sirens you may hear. This may indicate approaching troops, so pay attention to which direction they go. The stores and gas stations will both become empty a short time after word gets out, so if you have the chance, get it while you can. The main thing is not to panic, remember, you have planned for this scenario, so stick to your plan. Take out your Ham Radio, if it isn’t already set up and begin listening for information from non-commercial sources. While the commercial AM and FM radio band may be jammed, they’re not going to jam all of the Ham Radio frequencies as these are used for emergency communications all around the world. Doing so would put people in other countries in danger. Scan the frequencies on the 20, 40, and 80-meter bands. This is where you will find anyone broadcasting information, and you need to get as much up to the minute information as possible.
Using a map, mark all of the places where you know enemy are located and in which direction they are moving. Now is the time to lay low if you’re bugging in, and time to get the hell out of dodge if you’re not! Knowing where and in what direction any invaders are moving can help you avoid them, so take the time to gather information while you still can. Now is the time to lay low and plan because there may not be time later.
Well, I think you can guess how the rest of the story goes, but the trick is to plan for this scenario and be prepared to move if you need to. While many people like to say that there has never been a war against a foreign power on US soil, they fail to remember that the US is only a little over 200 years old and it could happen here just as easily as anywhere else, so don’t fool yourself. Being prepared means being ready for anything, not just one or two scenarios.
Well, that’s it for today and I hope you will come by again tomorrow for scenario number seven in the Disaster Countdown. Until then my friend, stay safe, stay strong and stay prepared. God Bless America!
