When it all falls apart, will simply surviving be enough?

Hello, my friend and welcome back!  In today’s post, we are going to look at whether or not simply surviving SHTF will be enough to make life continue to be worth living?   There is more to life than simply breathing or eating.  Today we will take a look at some of them and you can make your own decision, so grab a cup of coffee and have a seat while we visit

Now let me say right up front that not everyone will answer the question the same way, and I’m betting that many of you have never really taken the time to think about.   Your answer to the question may depend on whether you live or die, and it will most definitely determine what kind of world you will live and die in.  You see, I meet people all the time who say they have a little “hidy hole” back in the forest and their family will go there and wait out the coming crisis.  To them, that is all there is to it and there is nothing more to be said on the subject.

I however, see things a little differently.  I am not the kind of person to run and hide in a hole somewhere, while my country’s very existence may be in danger not to mention our freedom.  Too omany soldiers have sacrificed too much for me to run and turn my back on their sacrifice.  No, I am not some want to be hero, but rather a father and grandfather who cares deeply about his family and their future in this world.

I believe it was Benjamin Franklin who said “Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.”, and he was right.  In this dog eat dog  world we now live in, it’s easy to forget that we owe a debt to the people who bought our freedom with their lives.  To simply run hide in a hole would not be the honorable thing to do.

Yes, I have heard all of the quotes about how a coward lives to fight another day and all of that crap.  I have also heard it said that a brave man dies only once while a coward dies a thousand deaths.  I for one, will not simply go crawl in a hole but will survive the best I can while trying to secure a future for my children and grandchildren.

If you are reading this, then you too are part of why we are in this situation we find ourselves in now.  Like you, I failed to pay attention to what was going on in the world and especially my own country.  I told myself that smarter men than me were watching it and would let me know if I needed to do something.   The trouble is that while yes, smarter men than me were watching my country, they were not men of integrity or honor, neither were they Patriots.

If this nation falls into Civil War, then I will be just as guilty for letting it happen, kmas anyone else.  I failed to do what was required of me.  I served in the US ARMY and when I was finished, I left the watch to someone else and figured I had done my part.  I was wrong.  In the fight for freedom, a patriot’s job is never done.  I took an oath to defend the US Constitution and have never been released from that oath.

Now that it is almost too late, I realize that the US Constitution is under attack and I still have a responsibility to defend it.   At the age of sixty, I fear that I may once again find myself thrust into a battle to defend the land I love and to secure the freedom that I owe my children and grandchildren.   My father passed my freedom on to me and I pray that I will pass it on to my grandchildren, before I leave this world.

In answer to the original question, NO, simply surviving will not be enough for me.  Defending and rebuilding this great nationwill be my life in a post SHTF world, as long as I can.

If you don’t feel the same way, then that is your choice.  You may not be physically able to do anything and that is fine.  There is no dishonor in that.    Watch over and protect your family and friends and offer what support you can to those who do fight for your freedom.

If today’s post has offended you in any way, then tuff shit!  I hope today’s post has given you something to think about and discuss with your family and friends.  Like I said in the beginning, not everyone will agree with me on this one and that’s fine, their approval is not required.

Until next time, stay safe, stay strong and stay prepared.  God Save America!

  1. I have been waiting for this, for when people would wake up and take our country back since Vietnam. I lost a lot of good friends over there and the way I see it, Its better to fight on your own soil for your own people than fighting on someone else`s soil for nothing. As Nathan Hale stated: Give me Liberty or give me death. USMC forever.
