Hello, my friend and welcome back! I think by far, that the panic that will sit in when it first all falls apart will doom many Preppers. I mean it’s one thing to prepare, but when the hammer actually drops and it hits you that you are in for the fight of your life, many preppers will become so afraid that they will basically freeze up. This is the subject of today’s post so grab a cup of coffee my friend and have a seat while we visit.
We see it all the time in the military and law enforcement as well, when people finally have to pull the trigger, they freeze. Now, remember that these are trained professionals and yet they still freeze. This is also just one type of situation where it actually happens. For many Preppers, it is all fun and games until it all falls apart. They tell themselves that they can turn away a hungry family, or actually kill someone with a gun when in truth, they really can’t.
Here is the thing, they honestly believe they can, and practice with their firearms and lie to themselves over and over. The sad truth is that if you can’t turn away a hungry family or kill someone to protect what is yours, then you might just as well use that pistol you have on yourself. When the hammer drops and it all falls apart, if you are not 100% committed to surviving at any cost, then you’re prepping for nothing.
Now I’m not saying this to discourage anyone from prepping but hope to get people to open their eyes now, rather than later. Right now, you need to be asking yourself some really hard questions like “can I actually do it” and leave out your pride and all of the bravado so you can honestly answer the question for yourself. If the answer is no or “I’m not sure” then you have some work to do.
A while back I did a post on turning away hungry friends and family’s away when they come to your gate for food and water. The comments that the post received were very eye-opening. Many people said they could, while many others criticized them for saying so. A few people chose to use carefully chosen words from the bible about feeding the hungry. The trouble is that they chose to ignore the story of Noah and his family as well as many other places where the Bible discusses survival.
In the Bible, God commands his people to store up provisions and arms and be ready at all times. This is just what Preppers are doing now. The trouble is that there are those who choose to disregard what the Bible tells them and not prepare at all. That is between them and God as I see it. Their ego makes them want to seem nobel by picking and choosing which words and verses to quote. Believe me when I say that when it comes to survival, there is absolutely no place for ego. Even the strongest man will be humbled when it comes to him and his loved one’s survival.
Now, on the other hand, there will be those who think they can’t, but when the time comes, will be strong as steel and buckle down and do what they need to do to survive. Just because you do what you have to do to survive, doesn’t make you a bad person. It makes you a Survivor!
The point I’m trying to make here is, that you really need to ask yourself some really hard questions and answer them honestly. If you can’t, then you need to look for inspiration in whatever faith you believe in. You need to settle your conscience now rather than later. If you are part of a survival group then you need to set hard and fast rules about just how you will handle such situations. This will help because such decisions affect the whole group and not just one person. You support and keep each other strong, through the worst of times. In this way, you can help each other keep it all together when it all falls apart.
Now I’m sure I’m going to get hammered by a few well-meaning Christians for this post, but it’s just the price we pay for telling the truth. For what it’s worth, I strongly believe that God wants you to survive and multiply. Read and pray on it until you can see the wisdom in your surviving. It’s there if you only look. The new world will need Godly people just as much or more as the old world does.
Well, that is it for today and I hope you have found this post useful, so until next time, stay safe, stay strong and stay prepared. God Bless America!

I like what you have wrote. I’m a christian and I agree with you on storing up for times that most don’t want to see or think that our gov will take care of us. I do think that we should set a little aside for friends and extended family but when if it gets to that point your own family comes first. I would also like to say that in Luke 11 21/22 its our duty to protect our home and family. I like to think that God gave us what we need to know to protect our family and how to store up for the bad times. Its up to us to do it. Look at the Virgin islands after Irma when thru. Before the storm the governor took all the guns from everyone ( just like in Katrina). Storm hits devastation everywhere. People come, get what the can. That night armed men with guns and machetties robbed them. Took their food and valuables. They had no way to protect themselves. They out numbered the police and national guard. This is what the Gov has done. How did they protect the people or care for theirs needs. its up to us to take care of our families and friends if we can.
Thanks Sarge, great article..
Great thoughts, very important things to consider. I too am a veteran and it was settled in my mind long ago if I would take a life to protect my life and my soldiers. However, I was thinking of foreign enemies far away. I too have to ask myself honestly, could I defend myself against a hungry mother trying to kill me to feed her kids? What if she looked young, looked like my sister? All scenarios that need to be thought of and visualize.
And no one mentioned the 5 wise Vestal Virgins and the 5 foolish Vestal
Virgins. The unwise virgins asked the wise and PREPARED virgins for some of their supplies (oil, food, gas fill in the blank) and the wise virgins sent them on their way and told them to go and buy for yourselves lest we run short. Prepper John!
I guess I’m just one of those “well-meaning Christians” who can’t see. The fact that I trust God enough to take his words seriously doesn’t seem to be a valid point around here.
Don’t worry, Sarge, if you knock on my door needing some food I’ll still give you all I can.
Excellent post Sarge.
