Lessons From The Sun! Part 1
Hello, my friend and welcome back! In light of recent events, we have many new Preppers looking for information. In order to properly prepare for whatever might come your way, you need to be aware of all of the different scenarios that could happen. Today, we are going to discuss one that you might not have imagined could happen. It’s a very real threat to our way of life and could happen at any time. Now grab a cup of coffee my friend and have a seat while we visit.
In 1859, our sun erupted with such furry that it started wildfires, caused telegraph wires to catch on fire and batteries to explode. Colorful Arouras, which are normally only seen in the most northern portions of the world, were seen as far south as Cuba and Florida. The Telegraphs at the time were the only electrical devices in use, and all suffered major damage as a result.
It became known as the “Carrington Event”, and was the result of the worst Coronal Mass Ejections (CME) ever recorded by man. So what exactly is a CME? It refers to large amounts of electrified gas and subatomic particles being hurled toward Earth. They are also known as solar flares. Hours after their eruption, they impacted the earth’s magnetic field causing what is known as a Geomagnetic Storm.
The geomagnetic storm generates large amounts of electricity in Earth’s atmosphere and can cause millions of volts to be generated in wires or many other electrical devices. Now, consider this, if this event could cause Telegraph wires to melt, and batteries to explode, what effect do you think it would have on our modern electronics? Our power grid would be destroyed and anything with a computer chip in it would be instantly destroyed.
No electricity, no computers, no cell phones! Even the cars and trucks we drive now have computer chips in them. Your vehicle would simply become a hunk of useless metal, never to run again. While there are some older vehicles around (pre-1978) that have no computer chips that would still operate, the vast majority would be completely destroyed.
WIthout trucks to carry food to stores, shelves would quickly become empty. There would also be no electricity, or water, or sewer in your home. Most people only keep three days of food in their homes if that much. People would quickly begin to starve. Hungry people are angry people and violence would soon erupt everywhere. Make no mistake, that sweet single lady down the street would kill, if that is what it took, to feed her children.
In today’s entitlement culture, mobs and gangs would form and they would begin taking what they want. Even if it means killing you to get it. With no food, no water, and with violence escalating, people would begin to head out of the cities looking for what they need to survive. Life as we know it would quickly come to an end.
The US government had a study done to see what the outcome would be in such an event. The results were nothing short of terrifying. The report estimated that within one year after the event, 85% to 90% of all Americans would be dead from starvation, disease, and violence. That should scare the crap out of you!
Now, if your thinking that the Carrington event was just a one time event and could never happen again, your dead wrong. These Geostorms have also occurred in 1989 and 1952. As recently as October of 2019, the earth barely missed another major CME which would have been as bad as the Carrington event. If it had happened as little as 48 hours earlier, it would have devastated the entire world and sent us all back to the 1800s technologically. It would have wiped out all electronics as well as our power grid, leaving us in a world of hurt.
This has been part one of a two-part post and my next one, I will cover what you can do now to prepare for when the next Carrington Event occurs. I guess that’s it for today, and I hope you have found it interesting. Until next time my friend, stay safe, stay strong, and stay prepared. God Bless America!
