Review: 10 in 1 Paracord EDC Keychain with Waterproof Pill Bottle from SurvivalHax.com

Hello, my friend and welcome back!  The good people at SurvivalHax.com sent me one of their 10 in 1 Paracord EDC Keychain with Waterproof Pill Bottles to review.  In today’s post, we are going to look at it and see just how useful it is so grab a cup of coffee my friend and have a seat while we visit.

Seller & Price:   Sold by SurvivalHax.com and at the time of this writing cost just $14.99 each.

Product Description: It’s a key chain, a survival kit, and a waterproof pill container all in 1.The 10 in 1 Paracord EDC Keychain is a waterproof aluminum EDC (everyday carry) pill bottle.  A durable carabiner and 550 paracord are used so you can take this mini survival kit anywhere.  If you carry your car keys everywhere, you’ll have a much better chance of surviving the apocalypse.  No need for a bug out bag, this is small enough to fit in your pocket.

First impressions:  My first impression was that it was rather large to clip to your jeans, but then If you clip it to whatever bag you take with you when you leave home, then it should be just fine. It is solidly built for sure.

Type of testing Done:  The first thing I did was to check out the whistle up near the clip. It does produce a high pitch whistle that could be used to signal others. Next, I looked at the pill bottle and decided to see if it really was waterproof by keeping it submerged below water for an hour or two.  When I opened it, everything was dry so I would say it passed that test as well.  I removed the contents and closed the metal pill container back and placed it on my drive way where I proceeded to run over it with my truck.  Much to my surprise, it held up and did not crush.  It appears to be made of airplane grade aluminum so I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised.   Next, I examined the contents of the pill.  It contains:  Fishing line, Hooks, Weights, Floaters, Sinkers, Swivels, Eye knife, Cotton tinder, Fire starter rod, Safety pins, and a Wire Saw. I tried cutting a small limb with the saw and it broke only a few minutes.  The fishing line, weights and floats went together easily enough, and I was actually able to catch a small pan fish in a lake by my house.  The fire striker and cotton starter worked well and I was able to ignite the cotton with little effort.  It also has about 4 foot of Paracord and a metal clip which surprised me.  Items like this from other companies usually have plastic clips which break easy. But this one is nice and strong.

  • PROS: The whistle is loud.
  • The container is waterproof and sturdy.
  • The fire striker and cotton would be a life saver in cold weather or cooking fish.
  • The fishing gear is complete and actually works.
  • The little eye knife is good for cutting the included fishing line if you need to.

CONS:  The wire saw failed to work

Review Conclusion:  All in all you can’t beat it for a good value; I would just like to see them replace the wire saw with extra hooks. Mine only contained one hook and as anyone who has ever fished knows, it will without fail get hung up where you can’t get to it. You really need three or four of them just to be safe.  I will definitely be keeping this one where I can get to it anytime I need it.  It’s a great value and well worth the price.  I give it four stars due to the wire saw breaking so easily.

All in all, it’s a great little EDC emergency survival kit and is well worth the price.  Of course, I would expect nothing less from SurvivalHax.com.  Every product of theirs that I have tested so far with the exception of this one and exceeded my expectations and was a great value to boot.  I trust that they will replace the wire saws which are pretty much useless with something else.

Well, that is it for today’s post and I hope you have enjoyed it.  If you get the chance please check out SurvivalHax.com and look at their other great items as well.  Until next time my friend, stay safe, stay strong and stay prepared.  God Bless America!
