Review: 3V Gear’s Shift Urban Sling Pack

Hello, my friend and welcome back!  My good friends over at 3V Gear sent me one of their Shift Urban Sling Packs to review and let me say I am looking forward to it.  Grab a cup of coffee my friend and have a seat while we visit.

Seller & Price:    3VGear.com and the normal price for it is $39.95 + shipping

Product Description:  The Shift Urban Sling Pack was designed to give you the same rugged, tough construction that you would expect from all 3V Gear bags but with discreet styling. This gives you all of the benefits of a tactical sling bag but also allows you to blend in if you want to. The Shift Urban Sling Pack is designed to give you quick and easy access to your bag without removing it. This Shift swings around to the front of your body and all of the zippers are positioned on the side of the bag to give you access to all of your gear with the bag in front of you.

First impressions:  The bag appears to be well built with plenty of pockets, but then again, I wouldn’t expect anything less from 3V Gear.  I really like the pouch on the side to carry a water bottle as well as the additional handles for caring it. There are 2 handles so you can carry it horizontally or vertically.  The sling strap lets you carry it over your shoulder with comfort.

I no longer have my tree climber for testing, so I had to come up with a new set of test to perform on it.  To me, the biggest test of a sling bag is to load it down and carry it around for a day.  If it is not well designed, you will quickly find out.  Next, I tied one end of the pack to a 100lb weight and the other end to my truck and pulled it around my yard to check the strength of the sewing.  It passed all test with flying colors.

 PROS:

Weather resistant with rugged 600D PVC backed polyester construction

  • Large self-healing zippers
  • EVA molded back panel
  • Plenty of pockets and internal organization
  • Padded laptop sleeve, fits most 15” laptops
  • Hydration compatible
  • Concealed carry pocket and loop panel
  • Discreet design
  • Overall measurements 10.5“W x 17”H x 5.5”D)
  • 16 Liters
  • 3V Gear Manufacturer Lifetime Warranty
  • Weighs only 1.90 lbs

 CONS:

  • I can only find one real con on this bag, and that is that the strap needs to be a little longer because some of us are a little larger than others. (Like myself.) When the strap is too short, it tends to ride up and become uncomfortable.

  • I wish it came in other colors besides just black. Grey and Tan would be nice.

Conclusion:  This bag passed the entire testing process I put it through with flying colors. It’s well designed, comfortable, and tough.   What more could ask for?  I’m giving it 4 ½ stars!

Well, that’s it for today and I hope you have found this review helpful.  If you’re looking for a good high-quality sling pack that won’t draw attention, then this is the bag for you.  At $39, it won’t leave you broke and it’s lifetime Grantee makes it a sure winner.  Until next time my friend, stay safe, stay strong and stay prepared.  God Bless America!
