REVIEW: MyMedic.com’s Basic Range Medic First aid kit.

Hello, my friend and welcome back! The good people over at MyMedic.com sent me their Basic Range Medic First Aid Kit to review. While I had originally hoped to do a video review of this FAK, sadly, that is not in the cards due to equipment cost. At any rate, grab some coffee and have a seat, my friend, while we visit.

What MyMedic says about the Kit:

The RangeMedic is the best First Aid Kit for shooting on the planet. Whether you’re going to the range, hunting, or deployed, accidents happen. Experts at MyMedic have designed this kit by using range injury data, field testing with Firearms Professionals, and advisors from the professional medical community to protect you from any range day mishap from minor to catastrophic. Whether you’re hammering steel at 25 yards or reaching out to a 1000+ the Range Medic will be there to help you… Stay Alive!

What’s in the Basic Range Kit:

Bleeding: 1-Compressed Gauze, 4-Small Bandages(Think Band aids)

Burn: 1-BurnShield(Liquid for applying to small burns)

Topical s: 1-White petrolatum jelly, 1-Sunscreen, 1- lip balm, 2- Antiseptic wipes, 1-Sting relief(Insect bites), 2- Alcohol Prep pads, 1-30ml Saline solution, 1-Triple Antibiotic cream, 1-Hydrocortisone cream.

Medication: 1 Benadryl, 1 Pepto-Bismol, 2-Advil, 2-Tylenol.

Specialty Items: 1 EMT Shears, 1 Nitrile Gloves, 1-Tweezers.

What I think of the kit that I received:

First off, let me point out that there are two versions on this kit. The Basic, and the Advanced. The Basic is the one I received and the one I will be reviewing today. The Basic is pretty much just that, it contains only the basic supplies in the event of an emergency. The pack its self is small and compact.

I have to question why some of the items are in the kit to start with. Items like Petroleum Jelly? Sunscreen? Lip guard? Alcohol Prep pads? When was the last time you went looking for Petroleum jelly in your FAK at a gun range? These items just do not make sense to me and why include them except to drive the price up?

Something to note on their website fro this kit is that it says there are 5 containers of the Sterile Saline, mine only had one. I can’t even imagine how they would fit those in the case that comes with it. While I originally had high hopes for this kit, I must admit that I am sorely disappointed with it. While they claim that it is the best FAK for shooting on the planet, I must strongly disagree. While it’s better than nothing, it’s not much better.

My Review Rating: 3 out of 5 stars.

Well, that is it for today my friend and I hope you have found this review helpful. Until next time, stay safe, stay strong, and stay prepared. God Bless America!

  1. It’s a basic first aid kit set up to cover basic boo boo’s and such up to a small cut. Don’t know the price but it is set up as a decent BASIC first aid kit.

Add some trauma centric items ( Israeli bandage or two, a front/back chest set up, tourniquet. Or similar items) and you’d go to a decent Advanced kit.
