Special Video: Earth-cooled, shipping container underground CA home for 30K.

Hello my friend and welcome back!  First let me apologize for not having the usual post for you, but I have been in the hospital for the last few days.  All  is well now though and i hope to get back to regular post.  Today I have a video for you that I thought you might enjoy.  It’s for all of you who have ever considered using shipping containers to build a bug out location.  While the gentleman in the video is not a Prepper, his ideas and methods could be easly applied to a Bug Out Location.  I hope you enjoy it, so grab a cup of coffee and have a seat while we visit.

Well that’s it for today my friend and I will have a regular post for you tomorrow, thanks for stopping by.  Until next time my friend, stay safe, stay strog and stay prepared.  God Bless America.

Sarge, I don’t know how I missed this post with the video but I’ve seen it before. It’s a good video.
Interesting concept and the way shown to partially conceal the container but for those who haven’t delved into the idea of shipping containers as homes in a BOL, I suggest you do some in depth research.
If you do you’ll learn that these overseas containers are NOT suitable for complete burial under several feet of earth. The boxes are designed to be stacked on corresponding corners but the corrogated metal top and sides are NOT built as load bearing surfaces and will crush fairly easily.
Still, as shown, backed up against a berm or surrounded on three sides would be ideal and if you stacked several and created a horseshoe affair, with the open, center area made into a small garden, etc., and with overhead cover like branches from a nearby tree or light vegetation in earth colored pots and whatnot, would prove to be a formidable hiding place.
If you use X number of 20 foot boxes, you’ll have a compact, yet workable area. Stacked two high for a total of six and there would be LOTS of room.
Now do the same thing with 40 foot boxes, and you’d have a LARGE central area for a good sized garden and TONS of living space!
Now equipped with solar power and the proper number of batteries and inverter gear, and you’d really be set up.
Placed up in the yonder where the temperatures remain reasonable all year round with few neighbors, a close water table and you’ll REALLY be set up.
I’ve drawn up diagrams of how I’d design, construct, orient and place just such an arrangement. Where I’ve thought about buying land and placing such a setup would be my ideal retreat.
All it takes is cashola. 😉
