Hello, my friend and welcome back! I recently ran across some information that stopped me in my tracks. We are all aware of the fragile infrastructure of our power systems here in the US. They are aging and are under constant attack by hackers. While our government claims there is nothing to worry about, I recently learned that it’s not the truth in a big way. What’s even more frightening is that I have reason to believe that the US is not the only country in danger from this monster. Now, grab a cup of coffee my friend and have a seat while we visit.
Many years ago, a good Prepper friend of mine warned me of the dangers that exist in our power grid and the constant attacks on it. He was convinced that failure of the power grid would be one of the first signs that we were under attack. He went on to explain to me things that I really hadn’t thought of. In all honesty, I really hadn’t considered a nation-wide blackout to be a world changing event. I mean, after all, we have battery power, solar and wind power to get us through in a pinch right? …Wrong!
So, what could go wrong?
It seems I was being overly optimistic and not thinking it all the way through. While many things can run on alternative power, there are still many things that can’t. Examples of this are Gas Refineries, which produce the gas and oil our transportation system needs to continue to operate. Our country would soon begin to run out of the fuel supplies that we currently have, and if you think for one minute that the government will be rushing here to share our current reserves, then you better think again.
They would be quickly tapped for government use only, leaving the public to do without. They would claim that they needed it to maintain continuity of government and for the military to protect the country. We the people, would be out of luck and they could care less that it meant that emergency generators being used to keep critically ill people alive would fail, and that traffic would come to a stop. Now remember, water requires electricity to run the pumps needed to get to your home. This too will come to a halt. Our whole economy would come to a grinding halt with no fuel to move food and other goods across the nation.
The Results
Stores would soon be empty, and people would begin to starve and die from lack of food and medication. Just stop and think of all the things in your house that depend on electricity in one form or the other to work. Lights, water, sewer, food refrigeration, Cable TV, Internet and the list goes on and on. Now your fancy home alarm system no longer works either as you sit in the dark cut off from the world you know.
With no security systems working, the criminal elements will begin to quickly overrun the cities and towns as people get desperate for the food, water, and medicine they need to survive. Rural areas will not be spared for this either. While many farms and homes in the countryside may have backup systems of some type, the hordes of people from the cities will soon descend on them to pillage what food they may have. Within 2 days of a nationwide blackout, our nation would quickly descend into total anarchy.
The Monster in the System
While all of this is frightening, all by itself, there is something even more frightening being kept from us. In August of 2018, Former United States Director of Central Intelligence R. James Woolsey Jr. admitted in an interview , that both
What this tells us is that in the event of an actual attack, by Russia or China, we can expect a Black Swan event where more than one disaster occurs at the same time such as a nuclear attack and nationwide blackout. A Plague and blackout or any other disaster and a blackout can be expected when SHTF. A crippling attack on our National Electrical Infrastructure could bring the US or any other nation to their knees, so prepare now by building in redundant and diversified power systems to your Bugout location and homes.
Conclusion
Many security people have reported spotting the vulnerability that the Russians and Chinese are using to gain access into the system, but the US Government has refused to allow them to fix the issue. Our Government acts as though there is nothing, they can do about it, but I wonder if they are allowing it to remain simply to have an alibi should they decide to pull the plug on their own people… Time will tell.
Yes, my friend, the monsters are in our electrical infrastructure and are just waiting to attack when we least expect it. Prepare now and be as ready as you can. It’s going to be ugly!

Good article. There is a book by Ted Koppel, ‘Lights Out’, That goes along with what you are saying. A very interesting read about how unprepared our country really is. I picked it up at my local library.

Just this week they put out an article on how if just 3 substations were shot up it could cripple the grid.
