Are we on the verge of Nuclear War?

Hello, my friend and welcome back!  Well unless you have been living under a rock, then you have probably seen the headlines about North Korea.  These are troubling times my friend and this is the subject of today’s post, so grab a cup of coffee and have a seat while we visit.

As of now, there are two US Naval Carriers sitting off of North Korea.  While the USS Nimitz has been there for several weeks, the USS Theodore Roosevelt has just arrived among rising tensions.  As you may recall, North Korea has been claiming that it has the ability to strike anywhere in the US mainland as well as our Allies in the Pacific.

Yes, I know, North Korea has been spewing bull crap for years, so what’s different now?  To start with, China has shown a complete reluctance to controlling their little Troll neighbor and it’s getting worse.  Now I don’t know if the US Intelligence has just been ignoring North Korea or what, but now their sounding the alarm and saying that the situation is critical and that we have reached a tipping point.

Sadly, there are people out there who will simply choose to ignore what’s happening and keep their heads buried in the sand.  Something is going to give and while I’m not all that worried about North Korea’s missiles, I am concerned that any action of any type will result in China jumping into the fray.  This would be very bad for the US as China has as many nuclear missiles as the US does.

So the next question should be “Why would China want a war with the US?”  The simple answer is they really don’t.  However in China, saving face is a big deal and they have sworn to protect North Korea.  They would shame their culture if they did not step in.

So just how close are we to a new Global Nuclear War?  The heads of Japan and others of our allies in the area are screaming that something must break and North Korea must be stopped and stopped now!  They are ready to force the issue as they cannot continue to live under the constant threat of being attacked by North Korea.  Can you blame them?

So, it looks like Nuclear war could break out any time now, and we all need to be read just in case one lands where we are.  The sad part is there many millions of people who will just ignore the situation and stick their heads in the sand until it’s too late, while others will be running around screaming the end is here.  Neither would survive a nuclear attack and sadly neither will many well-meaning Preppers.

I know several Preppers who say that there is no way they could survive a nuclear attack in their area, so they don’t even bother prepping for it.  While I’m sure they mean well, I would be willing to bet, that when they are put in that situation that they will be wishing they had prepped for it.

So what do you need to do to be able to survive a nuclear blast?  First and foremost is that you need to be below ground level when the blast occurs and preferably surrounded by concrete walls. You should stay there for at least 48 hours.

That will get you past the initial blast, and then it’s time to worry about the radiation.  Hopefully, you have stored up plenty of Potassium Iodate Tablets for you and your family.  Start taking them as soon as you can to protect your thyroid from cancer.  You will also want to wash yourself and your clothing with clean uncontaminated water as soon as possible.  If you have any radiation burns, treat them as you would a severe sunburn.  Keep them clean and apply burn ointment to the bad ones.

If you have prepared for this then you already know the basics, and if not then you really need to read up on it. It cost nothing to take the time to look up good advice from professionals on what you need to do.  If you don’t need it then good, but it’s better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.  Take the time to educate yourself now and you won’t be sorry.  Well, that’s it for today and I hope you have enjoyed today’s post.  Until next time my friend, stay safe, stay strong, and stay prepared.  God Bless America!

  1. Nuclear War Survival Skills by Cresson H. Kearny is an outstanding book available at Amazon for less than $20. It has many examples of shelters, both improvised and planned. It is well worth the investment in time and money to acquire and read.

  2. We have been living in the book of “Revelation” since 1914. The 4th. SEAL has been broken. It is ISIS. It describes the 1st. world war, 2nd. world war, sadam huesane in Irack, it’s oil fires, Russia’s Cirnoble Nueclear accident and the Russian Berlin Wall which is the wound that was healed.
I BELIEVE THAT THE 3rd. WORLD WAR WILL BEGIN AT THE TURKEY’S ATATURK DAM. It will be shut town and the Euphraties River will dry up. This is the 6th. Trump.

  3. Everyone should pick up a copy of FM 21-76, US Army Survival Manual which has a section toward the end on surviving a nuke, and the time frames for when and how long you can come out of shelter. I would call it a must read, unless you are a head in the sand person.

I was frankly amazed at how survivable a nuke blast is, as long as you are not in the actual blast zone.

  4. Interesting scenario, but I doubt that neither the PRC nor PRK are willing to launch against the United States anytime soon. What’s holding them back? Simply stated greed and fear. The PRK is a major trading partner with the US as well as most of the free world. With few exceptions, greed will always trump ideology. Neither nations, not even the little nut in the PRK have the capability of locating and tracking our boomers lurking on station in the Pacific. Consequently, it’s a matter of mutual assured destruction – the same posture that kept the USSR at bay for decades.

The scenario that we should consider is a missile (missiles) launched from a non-military vessel transiting in the Pacific near the US main land. The resulting EMP would launch the US back a hundred years or more. The problem that the PRK or PRC has to solve is “how to make an attack that can’t be directed back to the attacker”. Once that is solved, most bets are off.

Over the past year or so cyber attacks have been directed to the US with some success and little done in retaliation. Consequently, it makes sense that a major cyber attack launched against our electric grid, financial institutions and communication facilities, etc. Such an attack could be devastation and leave a small, if not untraceable, link back to the attacker.
