Video Monday: Budget Survival

Hello, my friend and welcome back!  We have all seen the videos on Budget Prepping, but I ran across one on Budget Survival which takes a different look at buying Survival gear. The video was made by Team Sootch and posted by SensiblePrepper.  It’s a great little video and I hope you will enjoy it.  Please check the bottom of this page for a special message from me as well.  Grab a cup of coffee my friend and have a seat while you enjoy it.  Until next time, stay safe, stay strong and stay prepared.  God Bless America!

Hello, again my friend. My loyal readers may have noticed that I have been posting more videos than normal.  The reason for this is that I have been having issues with my eye sight.  This makes typing all but impossible as well as reading.  The issue can not be corrected and will only get worse as time goes on.  As a result of this, I am having to dictate my blogs and have my wife edit them for me.  I sincerely hope you will stay with me, in the future,as we work together to make this blog even better.  🙂

  1. Third thought. . . sorry, forgot to mention this.

A trick that one of the “millennials” showed me at work.

Assuming you are using a computer to type, edit, etc. . . Do you know about the CTRL + – options?
Any time you can’t read the font on a particular page, just hold down CTRL and either hit + or – on the keypad to increase / decrease the page for viewing. If you are using a mouse with a wheel, hold down CTRL with your left hand while rolling the wheel up or down.

I think this works in WORD and EXCEL too.

    Hope this helps.

    • Yep, that’s how I have been getting by until now. 🙂 My trouble is not the size of the print, but that there are 2 of everything regardless of size. LOL

      • 2 because of 2 eyes? Temporary “pirate patch” over one? 1 eye, 1 focus? Sorry if that’s too personal.

        • Not at all, thanks for the information. The trouble is that the Muscle in my dominant eye has stretched due to years of eye strain. It’s not enough to do surgery, but enough to keep me from seeing. When I first get up in the mornings it’s not too bad, but by lunch, I can’t use a mouse or see what I’m typing. 🙂 Thanks again.

  2. Hi Sarge,
Sorry to hear about your eye situation.

    Two thoughts.

First, a trick that I often use. Use the camera on your phone to take a quick pic of anything you are having trouble reading, like those little numbers on the back of a credit card. THEN, simply view the pic, do the 2 finger ZOOM thing, and you can read like a 20 yr old again. Immediately delete pic so it doesn’t take up storage space.

Second, and more to your post. Have you ever considered changing your posting format???

You could start out with a standard paragraph or two that you copy / paste, “hey, it’s Monday again. . .ending with “cup of coffee”. . . then do a quick audio post link. You could do your post right on your phone, save as an MP3, then upload it for the daily post. You could even name it as limited time, say “Sarge’s Sixty Second Splatter” or some such. It’s not like you’d have to plan lots to talk about, just something that we would all click on daily to hear what you have to say.

I enjoy reading your posts daily, but would just as eagerly listen to them.

Hope that helps in some small way.

    • Good information! I’m really leaning towards exactly what you mentioned above. Start with some text that leads into the Podcast below. Funny yo should mention it. Thanks, My friend!

  3. So sorry about your eyes. Go to the best eye doctor you can find in the country.
I have never been a believer in bugging out no matter where you live. I believe you have to stand firm in place and hold your ground. Driving someplace else may be filled with roadblocks, snipers, tanks for that matter…plus you are leaving behind a lot more food than you could ever carry. My husband and I are in our 70’s and are to old to run. But we can use a gun, can blockage our driveway, can set traps. We will make it as difficult for anyone to get to us as we can and if they don’t move on, we will fight to the end. Rather die on my own turf, than starve out in the woods.
