You can’t save them all!

I recently tried to have an intelligent conversation about the 2nd Amendment with a liberal who initiated the conversation with the remark “Over 70% of Americans want gun control but it is the redneck 30% and the NRA that is stopping it!” Now I try to stay out of political conversations because I usually wind up scaring the hell out of someone, due to the fact that I am not a small man and I am very opinionated and passionate about certain things. I guess some people just can’t handle that, so I try to avoid these types of conversations when possible. I know that I will probably catch heck from a few of my readers for saying something negative about Liberals in this post. Now I served in the military and will defend a persons right to say what they believe to the end, but that also means that I too have the right to say what I believe as well. As most of you know, I do not usually write on these types of subjects, but I really just need to get this off of my chest.

I guess what bothered me the most about his statement was that it was completely false, yet he was spouting it like it came from the lips of God himself. When I challenged his comments he gave me that smug indignant look, like I was incapable of even grasping the human language. Well that went over like a turd in a punch bowl with me. I asked him just how he had come to that conclusion and he replied that it was a simple fact and everyone knows it. Now that really got me going and asked if he had any documentation to back up his claim, to which he replied that it was all over the internet for anyone to see. At this point I suggested that he review the information and show me exactly where this survey, that he seems to think so highly of, came from. Needless to say he could not locate it and spent the rest of the afternoon looking for it. I finally had pity on the poor fellow and asked him to show me any place where there were hard facts that showed that gun control even worked. I’m still waiting for him to get back to me on that.

So why am I bringing this up? It’s to show that there are millions of people out there that will believe anything they hear and then spread it as though it were the Gospel from the Bible. These types of people are dangerous because they spread misinformation and other idiots believe it at face value. Then they too spread it and that is how we have gotten into the mess we are in now here in the US. These types of people want to be associated with the liberal groups because they seem to think for some reason that it makes them look smarter. I know that not all liberals are this way but based on what I have seen, the vast majority are. This is what we are up against and as Preppers, these are the very people who will be beating at our gates, demanding that we take care of them when SHTF hits. They will point out that it is our moral obligation to provide for them even if they didn’t prepare and to that I say bull crap! Their superior intellect should have led them to prepare just like the rest of us!

I guess the point that I am trying to make here is that we will not be able to save everyone because they simply refuse to listen to reason. No matter how hard you try, they will simply not accept what is right in front of their faces. I don’t want to see anyone suffer when it finally hits the fan but I know that millions will suffer anyway. It is in my nature to try to help others anytime I can, but I have had to face the fact that I can’t save them all and will have to settle for saving the ones I can. I guess that is all for my little rant and I hope to have more Prepper information for you next week so to anyone that I may have offended with this post, all I can say is “Suck it up buttercup, life is tough so get over it!”. Until next time, keep on prepping!

Hello Sargent, Just to stick my two cents in and make a statement. Isn’t it funny how the liberal, open minded person is only that way. When you’re thinking their way!

  2. Sorry, but being a former English teacher I just could not let it go — it’s “finally” not finely. There. Lesson learned, kay?

Great article. I’ve gotten in long winded arguments with family and friends over guns, religion and politics. When the SHTF I won’t be losing any sleep over their fate. They refused to listen, called me idiot, hate-monger, nut-job, etc, etc. Will I help them? Nope.

Anyone that has a conversation with a libtard is a libtard himself. Do we ever get off this crap of trying to save people, change people, or hoping they will see the light. Who in their right mind would want to save a libtard during teotwawki. If you save one, someone else will save another, then then they breed and create more libtards for the conservative survivalists to have to deal with after teotwawki. Liberalism is a fatal, incurable, rampantly infectious disease: Let it run its course unimpeded until no libtards remain and life will be a lot better for the whole planet. Consider watching libtards starve during shft as commercial free entertainment, not a responsibility to do the ‘right thing’ and save them. Think people, think; lest you too become infected!

I believe this might be what he meant… 90% of Americans want to change the background check system to require it for ALL gun sales… including private sales. Even 74% of NRA members want universal background checks:

The phrase ‘gun control’ is too fuzzy to mean anything useful. It could mean requiring background checks, licenses, training, insurance, or straight up banning stuff.

    • Sarge says:

I respectfully disagree with you and the article you cited. The trouble is not background checks, they have been proven not to work period. If a person wants a gun, they will find a way to get it. The trouble is the person using the gun, not the gun. Until we find a way to help troubled people get the help they need, there will always be murders. Gun free zones simply provide cowards a safe place to murder innocent people who are unable to defend themselves. The three cities with the highest murder rates in the US are Chicago, Detroit, and New Orleans and these are also the cities with the strictest gun laws as well. In Great Britain they have basically outlawed private ownership of guns and to their surprise, their murder rates actually went up. Now they are considering outlawing knives as well because they just don’t get it. Far more people are killed every year here in the US with cars and baseball bats than anything else, yet there is no outcry for car or baseball control. You see gun control is not about guns at all, it’s about control of the people by the government. I hope you can see why I feel the way I do and why I wrote this post. The 2nd Amendment was created for a reason and as far as I m concerned, “The Constitution Stands!”

Amen, Sarge. And I don’t believe 74% of NRA members want a total litany of background checks either. I would need to see the polling sample, who conducted the poll, and other supporting data before I’d believe this one. I know dozens of NRA members in my home state of Alaska, as well as many in WY, MT, AL, AZ, WA, OR, KY, and other states and I’ve only talked to one who supported background checks — at gun shows. He did that without knowing that any dealer is already required to do a background check — no matter where he sells a firearm that goes through his place of business. On premises or off. He’d just bought into the media hype about buying guns at gun shows.

Again, gun control accomplishes essentially nothing.

It the same when talking about AR15s. The liberals call them assault weapons and machine guns. It shows how little they know what they are talking about. It explains why our country is in such deep doodoo. The liberals think they are smart and know what they are talking about when the truth is the complete opposite.
